Dear Friends of Greentown Houston,

This past month has been filled with exciting events bringing together the climatetech community and showcasing promising climatetech solutions! On Sept. 29, we held the Final Showcase for the Low-Carbon Hydrogen Accelerator, a Greentown Go program in partnership with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Shell, the City of Houston, and the Urban Future Lab at NYU Tandon School of Engineering. Over the six-month program, startups worked closely with the program partners to advance their technologies, and we were thrilled to see their collaborations develop! Just last week, we also held our quarterly Sector Pitch Day, this time focused on transportation! Through this event, we convened stakeholders in the transportation industry and our own members working on transportation technologies to discuss challenges we face in reducing emissions, and some of the promising climatetech solutions that can help get us there. We’re keeping all the momentum we’ve started with these events into November, too—we’re now less than two weeks away from our 2022 Climatetech Summit, and it’s not too late to secure your spot! Meet Our Newest Members

Alma Energy is using its expertise in the energy industry to advance the clean energy economy with solutions such as geothermal generation; carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS); and energy storage.

Solid Ox Motors is developing a carbon-neutral, onboard generator for electric vehicles that uses solid oxide fuel cells to charge them while sequestering CO2 emissions that the vehicle creates.

Sustonable is producing a 100 percent circular, recyclable material that can be used in interior design and construction.

Kanin Energy and Syzygy Plasmonics were both named as most promising energy tech startups at the Rice Alliance Energy Tech Venture Forum.
Cemvita Factory had a successful field test for Gold Hydrogen, its technology that produces carbon-neutral hydrogen by using existing infrastructure from depleted oil and gas wells.
Moonflower Farms was featured on an episode of Consensus Digital Media’s Made in America series.
Fervo Energy has signed a PPA with the Clean Power Alliance to provide carbon-free geothermal power to their Southern California customers!
Katz Water Technologies has received three additional patents.
Bucha Bio raised a $1.1M seed round to help secure co-manufacturers for its sustainable leather and plastics alternatives, expand its team, and begin building its new headquarters.
Syzygy Plasmonics has launched CarbonModel.com, a tool that organizations can use to calculate carbon footprint and levelized costs of chemical production, allowing them to assess project viability and address gaps prior to implementation.

Greentown Go News

We're beyond thrilled to announce the launch of our latest Greentown Go program with Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas) and the M-Lab Companies: Greentown Go Make 2022! Through this program, we will accelerate the commercialization of technologies that help decarbonize supply chains, and over the next few months will be building connections between startups and corporates to encourage collaboration in working toward this goal.

We're excited to introduce the Go Make 2022 startup cohort: Moment Energy, Sensai Analytics, Energiency, RenewCO₂, and Nfinite Nanotech! We'll be sharing more information on Go Make as it proceeds, so keep an eye out for news on what's going on in the program. We can't wait to see all the progress our participants will make!

For two years, Activate supports fellows with a full-time living stipend, mentorship, an entrepreneurial education, access to funders and industry experts, and funding to access the facilities they need to turn their research into a first product. Learn more about the program here!
