It was wonderful to see so many of you during CERAWeek this month. We were thrilled to have more than 35 Greentown startups showcase at the Innovation Agora, and dozens of members joined the climatetech ecosystem for a night of networking at our annual CERAWeek Transition On Tap (a big thank you to Trade & Invest British Columbia for sponsoring that event)!

The Greentown team enjoyed events throughout the week, including:

The Energy Venture Day Pitch Competition from the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship, the Houston Energy Transition Initiative (HETI), and TEX-E—congratulations to the winners, including Greentown alumni Mitico and Carbon Negative Solutions;
Panels featuring our CEO Georgina Campbell Flatter and Board Chair Bobby Tudor;
The MIT Climate & Energy Ventures and Climate and Energy Prize Reunion;

ICYMI: Climatetech Summit 2025 Announced

Last week, we announced the dates for the sixth annual Greentown Labs Climatetech Summit—Nov. 4 in Houston and Nov. 6 in Boston!

Climatetech Summit is our largest event of the year and the premier gathering of climate and energy entrepreneurs, investors, corporate leaders, and policymakers accelerating the energy transformation.

The world is at an inflection point: there’s an unprecedented demand for energy globally, emissions must be drastically reduced, and resilience has never been more critical. We’ll dive into these challenges and opportunities together at Climatetech Summit, and emerge with tangible actions to foster more collaboration.

Step into our incubators for a day of hands-on exploration of climatetech solutions from 200+ startups, insightful keynotes and discussions with industry leaders, and unparalleled networking opportunities!

Houston Climate and Energy Startup Week Scheduled for September

The Houston Energy and Climate Startup Week is back on Sept. 15-19. Greentown Houston was proud to be a lead partner on this week when it debuted in 2024, and we can’t wait for its second iteration!

The Houston Energy and Climate Startup Week week brings together leading energy and climate venture capital investors, industry leaders, and startups from around the world to showcase the most innovative companies and technologies that are transforming the energy industry while driving a sustainable, low-carbon energy future. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months about events throughout the week, including Greentown and Browning the Green Space’s ACCEL Showcase on Sept. 18!

Concept Loop, an associate company of Innova8e Inc., is dedicated to repurposing low-value post-industrial and post-consumer plastic waste into sustainable building materials.

Member Milestones

Haffner Energy announced a contract for the development of a biomass-based hydrogen, electricity, and biochar production plant with H2 bois SA. It also signed a strategic partnership with ATOBA Energy that “secures long-term offtake agreements, unlocking financing and accelerating the scale-up of SAF production.”
Kanin Energy is partnering with LAVA and Birchcliff Energy on a waste-heat-to-power project, supported by $500k from Emissions Reduction Alberta’s Industrial Transformation Challenge.
Neuralix announced that in a recent project with a midstream company, its Data Lifecycle Templatization and AI framework enabled a 30 percent reduction in operational downtime and 12-16 percent annual utility cost savings. It was also named a winner of ELEVATE 2024.
Pressure Corp, a developer and operator of clean energy waste pressure power systems, announced a strategic partnership with Morrison Street Advisors to launch a new company, Pressure Core.
Helix Earth was the 2025 SXSW Pitch winner of the Smart Cities, Transportation, and Sustainability category.
Carbon to Value Initiative (C2V Initiative) alum Mitico raised a $4.3M seed round for its carbon-capture tech that leverages granulated metal-carbonate sorption.

Startup Spotlights

Solidec is tackling the 40 percent of industrial carbon emissions that come from the chemical and petrochemical industries with an electrolyzer that produces chemicals by drawing molecular “building blocks” from ambient air. Learn how its tech eliminates the need for chemical separations all together.

SUPERGirls SHINE Foundation is dedicated to providing underprivileged girls the resources to succeed in STEM. Check out its founder Loretta Williams Gurnell’s pitch.
