Dear Friends of Greentown Houston,

It’s been nearly one month since Greentown Houston celebrated our first year of climatech incubation and innovation on April 21. We were overjoyed by the attendance on the day of the event, the incredible lineup of speakers, and local reporting following the banner day. If you haven’t yet had the chance, we hope you will read this article with reflections on our first year from our CEO, Emily Reichert.

Last week, Greentown, along with the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), Shell, the City of Houston, and the Urban Future Lab (UFL) at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering, announced the cohort for Greentown Go Energize 2022—the Low-Carbon Hydrogen Accelerator (LCHA). Also last week, we held our Member Resource Fair to showcase the providers behind the more than $1M worth of member resources provided to the Greentown startup community. We are so grateful to the many companies that support our startups with discounts or free access to a host of software, pro bono support from legal firms, shared tools and equipment for prototyping, university partnerships, and business development, education, and fundraising tools.

Coming up on June 8, we will host the Kickoff event for Year 2 of the Carbon to Value Initiative! The Carbon to Value (C2V) Initiative is a multi-year collaboration among The Urban Future Lab (UFL), Greentown Labs, and the Fraunhofer USA TechBridge Program. Year 2 of the C2V Initiative builds on its successful first year in 2021 that led to partnerships, technology advancements, and industry growth. We hope to see you there!

We also want to welcome Saber Equity as our newest Terawatt Partner—the highest level of partnership with Greentown and our community of climate and energy transition startups. Saber Equity is the recently formed private equity arm of the S&B Family of Companies, one of the leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) full-service providers in the United States. Last, but certainly not least, May is Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month in the United States and its purpose is to recognize and celebrate the many contributions and achievements made by Asian Americans and Pacific Islander Americans. June 16: Transition On Tap: In Partnership with The Veterans Advanced Energy Project [in-person]
On June 16, Greentown Houston is hosting a special Transition On Tap in partnership with The Veterans Advanced Energy Project! The evening will include a panel, "The Energy Transition: Our Next Tour of Duty," and an evening of networking.
