Dear Friends of Greentown Houston,

What an incredible inaugural Houston Energy and Climate Startup Week! Thank you to everyone who joined Greentown and our partnering organizations last week to celebrate cutting-edge climatetech startups, make valuable connections throughout the ecosystem, and chart our collective path forward in the energy transition.

Our two events channeled the theme of celebration to highlight the awe-inspiring climatetech solutions being developed, deployed, and commercialized in Houston—a city unlike any other that's uniquely positioned to be the energy-transition capital of the world. The midweek Climatetech Innovation Festival showcased our founders’ technologies and stories and TEX-E’s work with local universities, and our Climate Impact Awards Dinner closed out the week with a celebration of Greentown Houston’s groundbreaking community of 75+ startups.

At the awards dinner, we were proud to honor Greentown startups in three categories, as voted on by their fellow members:

🏆 Climate Impact Startup of the Year: Cemvita
Cemvita utilizes carbon to biomanufacture sustainable oil for the production of sustainable aviation fuel, environmentally friendly palm oil alternatives, and other high-value feedstock oils.

🌍 Climate Responsibility Award: Element Resources
Element Resources is a project-development company focused on the production of 100 percent green hydrogen.

🌟 Rising Star Award: Neuralix
Neuralix offers a complete suite of rapid, customizable templates for data lifecycle with an AI-driven framework designed for the energy and manufacturing sectors.

We were also thrilled to have Lisa Lin, director of sustainability for Harris County, speak at the event as our distinguished guest. Thank you to everyone who joined us for the awards dinner, to our event sponsors—bp, Truist Securities, Vinson & Elkins, the Barbara J. Member Milestones

Haffner Energy signed an agreement with IðunnH2 to integrate its biomass-to-clean-fuels tech in the 65,000 metric tons/year electro-sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) facility under development by IðunnH2.
Neuralix won first place at the Shell Global Hackathon for Sustainable and Affordable Energy.
Helix Earth Technologies won the $20k second-place prize in the RE+ EPIC Prize Pitch Competition.
Terralytiq was accepted to Techstars Washington D.C.
Greentown alum Fervo Energy achieved record-breaking commercial flow rates at its Cape Station project's first well test—making it the most productive enhanced geothermal system in history—and secured a $100M construction loan to accelerate its operations.
Greentown members and alumni were accepted to multiple accelerators and received several major honors:
- Moment Energy, PolyJoule, Salient, and Syzygy Plasmonics were chosen for Amazon Web Services’ Clean Energy Accelerator 4.0 cohort, and Dsider and SeaDeep were selected for Amazon Web Services’ Generative AI Energy Lab.
- Ardent, Corrolytics, Elementium Materials, Mitico, Osmoses, Oxylus Energy, and Revterra were named among the 10 most-promising energy tech startups at the Rice Alliance for Technology and Entrepreneurship's annual Energy Tech Venture Forum.
- AeroShield, Applied Bioplastics, Kanin Energy, Mitico, Oxylus Energy, Reverse Energy Solutions, and Upstream Tech were named to Trellis (formerly GreenBiz)'s 25 Climate Tech Startups to Watch list.
- Fervo Energy, Form Energy, Lydian, Electra, and WeaveGrid were selected by Congruent Ventures and SBV for a list of "50 companies that have strong potential to drive carbon reduction over the next 25 years."
